Confirming an Inspection

If the Perform Confirmation policy is set to Always or On Fail Result in the inspection, then once the inspection has been performed or if a characteristic fails inspection, then the Inspection Approver receives email notification .

  1. From Inspection Work Space - All Tasks > Inspection Needs Confirmation on the Portal Page, click the Inspection Number link to the appropriate record
Result: The Confirm Inspection window is displayed.
  1. Confirm the inspection information.

NOTE: The Inspection Approver can choose, based on a characteristic's severity, to check or clear the checkbox that specifies whether or not an NC is created for a failed characteristic. This checkbox can only be modified if creating the NC is recommended or optional, not if it is required.

  1. Select either Approve or Reject as the approval decision and enter a comment. The Comment field is required if Reject is selected. If the confirmation is approved, then the Inspector receives email notification and if the confirmation is rejected, then the Perform Inspection task is routed back to the Inspector.
  2. Add an attachment, if necessary.
  1. Click the Sign-off button.
Result: The Sign-off window is displayed.
  2. Enter your user ID and password and then click the Sign-off button.
Result: The Result window is displayed. The Result window is a window that displays after inspection confirmation and asks the user where they would like to go next, such as to the Inspection Detail, to the next step if the same user is assigned, or back to the Portal Page. Once the confirmation is signed off, the Inspection Owner receives email notification. If any of the characteristics in the inspection are failed, then when the confirmation is signed off, the Inspection status changes to Rejected and the NC workflow is initiated based on the policy. If all characteristics are passed, then the inspection status changes to Closed and the Skip Lot information is updated.
